Abhishek Mehta is a part-time Blogger and a consultant in the fields of “Language Semantics”, “Computational Linguistics”, “Data/Fact/Entity Extraction”, Ontology, E-Publishing, “Variable Data Printing” and E-Learning.
Currently, Abhi is a “NLP Consultant” at Bloomberg Inc. He is assisting various content services of the Bloomberg terminal to become semantically aware, and artificially intelligent. He is helping “Fact Extraction” teams to make better language rules using NLP capabilities. He provide assistance to the content gathering teams in extracting financial reports, tables and data points out of PDF/HTML files for financial analysis. At abstract, he is contributing to the processes-automation initiatives inside Bloomberg where 3rd party vendors are used to populate the terminal data, manually.
Abhi was co-founding member of Semantic Insights (2005-10), a company with deep Insights in natural language semantics. Goal of Semantic Insights (SI) was to develop a “Semantic Platform”, which can understand unstructured text for a defined language, ontology and domain. At SI, He fulfilled all the roles possible in SDLC with stress on “Manager, Product Development” and “Principal Engineer”.
Prior to Semantic Insights, Abhi was hired from Germany (2004-5) to setup a totally new division of ceTe software- (Maryland, USA) in Mysore, India. He established the technical operations of ceTe software and had taken charge of product development. Association was fulfilled after the launch of two products (Dynamic PDF Generator & Merger) from newly set-up Indian operations.
Abhi has developed software in North America, Europe and India before settling in USA. Some of his past assignments include providing solutions based on one-to-one marketing concepts, Digital Printing/Publishing, “web to print” based on VDP concepts, and Learning Management Systems.
Being Semantic, Ontology, PDF, VDP engineer, he has helped companies to shape their products and services around these domains; Integration of new technologies, proposals for efficient processes and migration of existing systems to futuristic ones have benefited many organizations. He has setup development units for fresh startups and incubation teams for product concepts companies. In many cases, he has taken charge of their development divisions, also.
